Peter Dewan
Account Executive
Peter Dewan is a licensed commercial insurance agent and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) with the Lyman & Sheets Insurance Agency. Peter’s experience includes a unique blend of insurance, government, association and nonprofit industry experiences over the past 28 years. Peter has offered risk management counsel and service to several large nonprofit, cultural and public entity clients with domestic and international exposures.
Prior to his work as an independent agent, he served as a corporate officer of a mutual insurance company in Michigan. He also worked for a number of elected officials, including a Governor, Secretary of State and members of the U.S. Congress and the Michigan State Legislature.
Peter serves on the board of a local nonprofit organization and has coached community recreational baseball leagues for eight years. He is a life member of the Michigan State University Alumni Association. Peter is also active in his community with his neighborhood association. He has served a combined 12 years on the City of East Lansing Zoning Board and Planning Commissions, his last term as Chairperson. Presently, Peter serves as Treasurer and on the Board of the Downtown Development Authority and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority with the City of East Lansing. He is a graduate of Ferris State University and Michigan State University with degrees in public administration.
